Boston Children’s Museum’s Explore It Summer Camp for K-2 kids returned for a second year and the Museum staff and campers had a blast! The camp season expanded to six weeks, from four in 2021, with the number of campers almost doubling, with over 250 campers on a waitlist. The Camp was staffed by a combination of Museum educators and visitor experience ambassadors that transitioned to camp counselors, and several seasonal counselors. Campers were treated to a summer full of STEAM programs run by the counselors and Museum educators, and engaged in a variety of activities and games, as well as exploring the Museum’s many exhibits. The Camp is an ideal opportunity for Museum educators to spend time engaging with children beyond usually short visitor interactions and to see campers make friends, have novel experiences, and make memories.
